Yang Chow Fried Rice Recipe
2
This Chinese resto style rice recipe combines the light and fresh flavors of garlic, carrots, green peas and egg with the shrimp-flavor infused fried rice.
Tips
Make sure to make your wok or pan nice and hot, and use enough oil, to ensure that the ingredients don't stick to the bottom of the pan. Making the pan hot before adding the vegetables will also add the smoky flavor to the rice.

Ingredients
- 2 tbsp oil
- 6 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 pc Knorr Shrimp Cube, mashed
- 1-2 pcs Chinese chorizo or ham, chopped
- 4 cups cooked day old rice, preferably
- ¼ pc carrot, chopped
- ¼ cup green peas
- 2-3 tbsp Knorr Liquid Seasoning
- 2 pcs egg, beaten, cooked, and chopped
- 2 tbsp sesame oil (optional)
- chopped spring onion and toasted garlic
Cooking Method
- Begin by getting your wok or big shallow pan nice and hot over medium heat. Pour some oil and sauté garlic until you can smell the nice aroma from the cooked vegetable.
- Drop in the Knorr Shrimp Cube and mix well. Add chorizo next and sauté for a minute.
- Gently add the day old rice, vegetables, and Knorr Liquid Seasoning. Stir for 2 minutes before adding the cooked egg. Mix and serve the rice topped with spring onions and toasted garlic. And that’s our dish!
Day old rice will have a better texture if used in any fried rice dish. Just store the left over rice in the chiller without cover to prevent moisture from going in. Fried rice is best when the left over rice is dry. Enjoy Yang Chow with your favourite meat or seafood dish. Or enjoy it on its own, it’s so good! No need for Chinese take-out!
