A staple Filipino food, sinigang has a tart base. And although numerous souring agents like bayabas kamias, pinya, and balimbing can be used, sampaloc still reigns supreme.

Ingredients
  • ½ kg pork belly, cubed
  • 1 pack Knorr Sinigang sa Sampalok Mix Original
  • 1 bundle kangkong leaves
  • 2 medium eggplant, sliced
  • 1 labanos, peeled and thinly sliced diagonally
  • 6 cups water
  • 2 cup strawberry, halved
  • 1 medium tomatoes
  • 2 piece siling haba
  • patis, to taste
  • pepper, to taste
  • ½ cup strawberries, garnish upon serving (optional)
Cooking Method
  1. In a large pot, boil pork in water.

  2. Remove the white, pork scum that comes to the surface of the water once it starts boiling. Continue until the broth becomes clear.

  3. Cover the pot and let the meat simmer until it becomes tender.

  4. Add Knorr Sinigang sa Sampaloc Mix Original into the simmering pork. Stir well.

  5. Season with patis and pepper.

  6. Toss in the labanos slices, simmering until the vegetable is cooked through.

  7. Add the tomato, eggplants, and strawberries into the pot.

  8. Simmer for 3 more minutes before adding the kangkong leaves and siling haba.

  9. Cover the pot and switch off the heat.

  10. Transfer the soup to a bowl and garnish with additional strawberries.

  11. Serve hot and enjoy this fruity and tangy dish.
