Beef Kimus Recipe
This traditional Maranao dish combines the rich taste of beef mixed with grated coconut meat, carrots and onions, infused with palapa and turmeric.
Tips
When steaming the dish, remember that the food should not be directly hitting the boiling liquid, only stem should be in direct contact with the food. Keep the pot covered at all times to keep the steam circulating within the pot.

Ingredients
- For Palapa:
- 1 cup shallots
- 1 large ginger, peeled and minced
- 20 pcs. red chili pepper, minced
- Knorr Liquid Seasoning
- salt
- (mix and pound all ingredients together in a mortar and pestle)
- For Beef Kimus:
- 1 kilo ground beef
- 1 whole coconut meat, grated (niyog or coconut used for milk and cream)
- 1 cup carrots, small diced
- 2 stalks onion leeks, minced
- 3 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
- 1 white onion, peeled and minced
- 2 tbsp palapa
- 2 tbsp turmeric
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 pc Knorr Beef Cube
- Knorr Liquid Seasoning
- salt and pepper to taste
