Silog Medley: A Mix of Filipino Breakfast Flavors

Today, we're taking silog to the next level by introducing a new way to enjoy it: The Silog Medley! But first, let's dive into this mix of Filipino breakfast flavors.

What is Silog?

Silog is a combination of the words sinangag (fried rice) and itlog (egg). It's a simple yet satisfying breakfast dish that can be easily found everywhere - from local karinderias to high-end chains. Over time, variations of silog meals have emerged, each with a unique protein source. Some of the most popular silog meals include hotsilog (hotdog and egg), porksilog (porkchop and egg), and longsilog (longganisa and egg).

Introducing the Silog Medley

With the endless varieties of silog available to enjoy, it gets pretty hard to choose which one to have. But who says you can't have it all? The Silog Medley takes the classic silog dish to the next level by incorporating various staple silog protein sources into one big sampling dish. We suggest to lay them out charcuterie board-style so that everyone can sample a small portions at a time. It's the perfect breakfast for those who want to try different flavors in one go! Here are three recipes that you can easily add to your very own silog medley at home:

Adobosilog

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup rice with Knorr Liquid Seasoning to taste
  • 1 cup adobo flakes or shredded adobo
    Lady's Choice Real Mayonnaise to taste
  • 1 Knorr Chicken Cube
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • Fried garlic for garnish
  • Sliced tomatoes and cucumber for serving

Instructions for Adobosilog Recipe:

  1. Cook the rice normally, add some Knorr Liquid Seasoning to taste and set aside
  2. In a pan, sauté adobo flakes or shredded adobo until crispy
  3. Add in Knorr Chicken Cube and stir well
  4. Scoop a generous amount of the prepared rice onto a plate and top it with adobo flakes
  5. Drizzle Lady's Choice Real Mayonnaise on top and sprinkle fried garlic for garnish.
  6. Serve with sliced tomatoes and cucumber.

Bangsilog Medley

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup rice with Knorr Liquid Seasoning to taste
  • 2 bangus fillets, deboned and flaked
  • Lady's Choice Real Mayonnaise to taste
  • 1 Knorr Fish Cube
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • Fried garlic for garnish
  • Sliced tomatoes and cucumber for serving

Instructions:

  1. Cook the rice normally, add some Knorr Liquid Seasoning to taste and set aside
  2. In a pan, sauté the bangus fillets until it's crispy
  3. Add Knorr Fish Cube and stir well
  4. Scoop a generous amount of the prepared rice onto a plate and top with bangus flakes
  5. Drizzle Lady's Choice Real Mayonnaise on top and sprinkle fried garlic for garnish.
  6. Serve with sliced tomatoes and cucumber.

Bacsilog Medley

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup rice with Knorr Liquid Seasoning to taste
  • 1/2 cup sliced tapa
  • 1/2 cup cooked bacon, chopped
  • Lady's Choice Real Mayonnaise to taste
  • 1 Knorr Beef Cube
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • Fried garlic for garnish
  • Sliced tomatoes and cucumber for serving

Instructions:

  1. Cook the rice normally, add some Knorr Liquid Seasoning to taste and set aside
  2. In a pan, sauté the tapa until it's cooked
  3. Add Knorr Beef Cube and stir well
  4. Scoop a generous amount of the prepared rice onto a plate and top it with the cooked tapa and bacon
  5. Drizzle Lady's Choice Real Mayonnaise on top and sprinkle fried garlic for garnish.
  6. Serve with sliced tomatoes and cucumber.
